The Chevrolet Corvette C7 over the C8
Topics discussed about the corvette c7 and c8:
Spotlight- preowned/used market value of the Corvette C7 Grand Sport
Chevrolet hit the market hard with the release of the Chevrolet Corvette C8. The C8 is indeed a great car with its beautiful sleek design and raging power. However, does the C7 stand any chance against this supercar? We’re about to find out!
Corvette C7 vs C8
When the Chevrolet company released the C8, they added some major upgrades to the exterior design of the corvette, although not so much changed when compared to the engine power and transmission rate of the C7.
Realistically, the Chevrolet Corvette C7 Gand Sport is still a great buy. Maybe even better, with the launch of the C8, the price has been beaten down the chart. For every C7 Chevy lover, this should be sort of a dream come true.
Anyway, let’s boil down to some of the top reasons why the C7 is still worth your cash.
Comes With A ‘Vroom Box’
Well, this difference isn’t entirely subjective. Only true fans of ‘monster’ engines can relate to the difference in sound. The C8 nonetheless sounds great but, it isn’t incomparable with the C7s Vroom box. The C8 also doesn’t have the luxury that comes with the Corvette C7 of being less refined, haha! Am just kidding, the C8 is more refined and luxurious, which would make the less refined version (the C7) a more raw experience especially when it comes to exhaust notes from the interior. And by no means am I saying that the C7 Grand sport isn’t refined at all.
Engine Power At A Better Cost
Let’s take a look at the engine performance of both corvettes. The C8 is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 called the LT2, which is an evolution of the Corvette C7’s LT1 engine. The C8 has a horsepower of 495 and can hit 60 mph in three seconds.
Now to the Corvette C7. Talk about an engine power that almost matches the C8’s at a cheaper price tag. It comes with 460 horsepower and can hit 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. That’s some impressive power for a cheaper car. Worth the buy for me.
Cargo
The cargo capacity of both cars is somewhat identical. The C8 has a rear trunk that could fit a couple of golf clubs. The Corvette C7 on the other hand includes a massive rear hatchback with 15 cubic feet of storage, which is spacious enough to take a couple of golf bags.
Generally, the amount of cash you throw in for a German sports car of the same caliber is way more than what you can pay for a corvette C7 or even the C8. However watch comparison videos of both the C7 GS and the new C8 and you will find that while the C8 is a more refined car, the C7 GS is more fun especially on track and is also available in Manual version.
So, why pay for less when you can get more? Well… the rest is up to you!
